I have tried Kaspersky which is an all in one protection suite but I found it slowed down my computer and wasn’t worth the price I paid for.

I am now using the free version of AVG and am considering zone alarm as the firewall. Both are freely available.

Are the commercial AVG and zone alarm any good?

Are there any antivirus and firewall software, which are freely available and are effective in their protection?

I have eset internet security(antivirus+firewall+spyware). Before eset, I had kaspersky internet security 6.0. Though both of them had scanned my computer reported there was no virus, My computer is still slow complains of LOW ON VIRTUAL MEMORY. My computer crashes or my firefox crashes regularly or else really slow, though I have broadband. Often firefox does not load webpages and reports ‘SERVER NOT FOUND’.
I don’t have genuine windows xp I can’t afford a new cd :(.(It’s not my mistake I have a fake one,some computer professional installed it when I bought the computer in the year 2004).
I have Microsoft professional SP2 ,version 2002 256MB RAM.(Although computer shows 247MB)
Is it because of th RAM?
Give me a good solution for my problem.
