Antivirus Firewall Software

I have Pentium M 1.7 with 256 mb of ram i try nortrom system works and mcafee internet security 07 but both use most resources of my system results in the very slow speed of system. which antivirus is best for my system i have only threat from internet which i use through a modem.

Does internet security software occupy alot more space than simply antivirus software?
You see, I called Kaspersky and asked them if the memory footprint for internet security(KIS) versus antivirus had any noticeable difference in CPU performance. They said it was imperceptable. I’m not sure how much i buy that.

I need an antivirus software to run locally for the computer and not the internet security antivirus software.

Few days back i got a virus into the system and the toolsFloder options has vanished from the windows explorer.

Tried to install the free bee’s to fix - did not help.

I have windows xp.

Please advise which antivirus should be good

AVG8 won’t install, it keeps coming up failed to install. I previously used Norton 2008 but it expired yesterday. Currently using Avira Antivirus but I just don’t think it suits me, it also uses alot of CPU. Any help on how to fix my problem with AVG or a really good free Antivirus would be great.

Should I get the FULL internet security software or just the regular antivirus software? Cost is not relevant. If you do suggest I go w/ the basic Kaspersky antivirus ( NOT the full internet security) what other protection programs should I run w/ it to ensure maximum security? Spyware, malware, etc.
