Antivirus Firewall Software

hey, what is the best free and best payed anti virus software out there and what do you recommend going with? If you can name some of the stuff the anti virus you recommended can do that will also be good!
If you also know a good anti spyware software i would like to hear it

I have a windows vista and was wondering if anyone knows of some good free anti virus software.

I am looking for some free anti-virus and anti-spyware to download and there are many out there and being that i am computer illiterate which one would be the best free virus protection to download?

I bought a used laptop that didn’t have any virus protection, and I looked online to try to find something which was free. The software did the exact opposite of what it was intended for. Plus, I’ve used the restore option like 5 times in two days. I tried loading Mc Afee Suite but my computer just freeze up. I’m not a computer whiz, so if they can be stated in caveman terms i will be much obliged.

Hello, I’ve heard that Symantec anti-virus products really slow down your PC, and I was wondering if there were any free anti-virus software programs which are just as safe and effective as, say, Symantec Anti-Virus Corporate edition, but wont drag my PC down. Could Symantec be slowing down my computer? What options do I have?

I have Sony Ericsson w580i mobile. It ocassionally connects to the GPRS and transfers some data. Looks as if my mobile is infected with a virus.

Where? I used to use AVG, but now it says i have to pay for it. So i uninstalled it, tried to reinstall, and it says i still have to pay if i want to keep it. What’s oging on here? Can someone give me a link to a free anti virus software?

Hi, I have just bough a new laptop and I know that the likes of Norton and Mcafee are the best virus protection softwares, but the are chargeable. Are there any good FREE anti virus softwares out there which can protect my laptop, or is it safer to install one of the anti virus softwares which you have to pay for. I am interested in the free route, but I guess some advise on this would be great?

Apparently I am able to use the free software instead of another anti virus program that has been nothing but trouble! I’d like to know where I can find it please.
